Destroys MRSA and other pathogenic bacteria at a dilution of 1+49 (2%) in compliance with EN 1276
Destroys Mycobacterium tuberculosis at a dilution of 1+19 (5%) in compliance with EN 14348
Hycolin is a clear blue disinfectant recommended for environmental use in hospital wards, isolation wards, operating theatres, post-mortem rooms, laboratories and other places where similar contamination occurs.
Hycolin is active against pathogens such as gram + bacteria, gram – bacteria, mycobacteria, fungi, some virus and some yeasts. See microbiological performance.
Hycolin contains a blend of cationic and non-ionic detergents which are complaint with REACH, Biocidal Products Regulations and Detergents Regulations.
Hycolin contains a detergents system which on dilution assists in the breakdown and wetting of organic matter to increase activity in organic soiled applications. It is ideal for use on linoleum and vinyl floors.
Hycolin has a pleasant odour and is stable with a shelf life exceeding 2 years.
HYCOLIN – DIRECTIONS FOR USE
GENERAL USE
Hycolin is recommended for use at dilutions between 2% and 5% dependent on the amount of organic soiling and the type of infection present.
The dilution of 2% is recommended for areas where contamination is known to be present, such as hospital wards, isolation wards, operating theatres, post-mortem rooms, laboratories, infected linens and utensils.
If TUBERCULOSIS is known to be present a stronger dilution of 5% is recommended.
In conditions of severe organic soiling a stronger dilution of 5% is recommended.
HYCOLIN – MICROBIOLOGICAL PERFORMANCE
The following HYCOLIN tests have been conducted by independent laboratories.
HYCOLIN passes the European standard EN 1276 test at 2% dilution (1 part of HYCOLIN plus 49 parts of water). EN 1276 tests efficacy against Escherichia coli, Enterococcus hirae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa under contaminated conditions in hard water. EN1276 is the test of choice in the United Kingdom for hospital disinfectants.
HYCOLIN has also been tested against Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) using the EN 1276 protocol and passed at 2% (1 part of HYCOLIN plus 49 parts of water).
HYCOLIN passed the AFNOR NFT151 test at 1:60 dilution against Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
HYCOLIN passed the AFNOR NFT301 test at 1:40 in dirty conditions against Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The above tests show that HYCOLIN is active against a wide range of gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria.
HYCOLIN has been shown to kill HIV and have fungicidal properties but is not a general virucide.
